Judicial Court Justice Applications

To be an eligible candidate, you must:

1. Have and maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 in all college units completed at Irvine Valley College.
2. Have paid the ASIVC Access fee each semester once elected.
3. Must complete Student Leadership Training, unless alternative arrangements are made with ASIVC Advisor.

A student who is appointed to serve as an ASIVC Judicial Court Justice shall meet any of the following requirements (in accordance with Section 76061 of the Education Code):

• The student shall be enrolled at IVC at the time of election, and throughout the student's term, with a minimum of five cumulative semester units (from either college in the SOCCCD), or the equivalent Cumulative quarter units.
  1. The student shall meet and maintain the minimum standards of scholarship prescribed for IVC students by the South Orange County Community College District.
• OR the student shall be enrolled in an adult education program offered by IVC pursuant to Article 9 (commencing with Section 84900) of Chapter 5 of Part 50, at the time of the election and throughout the student's term.
• OR the student is enrolled at IVC at the time of election, and throughout the student's term, and is a disabled student, as defined in subdivision (b) of Section 84850.

Additionally, a student who is appointed to serve as an ASIVC Judicial Court Justice shall meet all of the following requirements:

• A student elected or appointed to serve as an officer in ASIVC must have Irvine Valley College listed as their College of Record.
• A student elected or appointed to serve as an officer in ASIVC shall not be on academic or progress probation and must be in good disciplinary standing.
• A student elected or appointed to serve as an officer in ASIVC must adhere to the Student Leader Expectations form unless alternative arrangements are made with the ASIVC Advisor. 
• A student elected or appointed to serve as an officer in ASIVC must have and maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 in all college units completed at Irvine Valley College.
• Any accommodation requests must follow the policies and procedures of the Irvine Valley College Disability Support Programs for Students (DSPS) office, be approved by the DSPS Coordinator, and must abide by Section 84850 of the California Education Code.

• Complete the application by answering the questions on the online application form.
• Your application will be reviewed and rated by ASIVC.
• If you are selected to move forward, you will be invited to sign up for an interview. The interviews will be held in-person and will be 15 minutes in length. On the application, please select a time frame that you are available. We will confirm your interview slot.
• Justices are appointed by the ASIVC President, and Senate approval.
